Websites can be interactive mediums as well as one-way information-giving sites. Your website may benefit from a shopping cart, a journal or blog, or online registrations. Some of these you or your staff can take care of yourself. Just ask. LEARN MORE HERE

In the spring of 2009, Dusty Miller asked for a website for his wife's new business, Protec Canada, otherwise known as www.martialartsequipment.ca. Terri has a black belt in Taekwondo and teaches the sport in Sundre, Alberta. What she needed was a site that would help her students, and others across the country, purchase the best quality martial arts equipment possible. Protec Canada's online catalogue is combined with a secure shopping cart, and is an excellent example of interactivity between business owner and consumer. The convenience of this shopping cart is that it has fully automated features and is matched only by its cost effectiveness for the business. This has been a really good stepping stone for Protec and we've started looking at ways to improve the site, and optimizing the search engine rankings for them in this competitive market.
Keep your homepage small so that it loads quickly -- under 15 seconds is a goal worth aiming for. This will hook the visitor. Think twice about putting that 90K GIF on your home page. Remember that yours is only one of millions of sites, and that websurfers have short attention spans.

What I'm Working On
Sometimes a business loses their webmaster. This can be a strain on a business because they actually like their website design and aren't sure what to do; they still need someone to take it on. My latest project is to help Serenity in Granite with such a transition. This includes improving the hidden coding for search engines, updating some photos, and general cleanup of the website. I'm happy to help Janice through this process.
