Olds United ChurchThe website for the Olds United Church was actually a labour of love, since this was the church I was raised in, and married in. What they were wanting was a relatively basic site, one that would keep congregation members informed, but also one that could become a stepping stone for increasing membership, particularly young people and their families. It features dynamic scripting that automatically changes scripture readings every day. The calendar is updated once a month and special events happening in the community are posted on a regular basis. Website traffic is monitored so we know how many people are visiting the site. Easter Sunday traffic was through the roof! At any rate, this website is a work in progress, like all websites should be. Murray and I are both full of ideas, it's just a matter of taking the time to implement the very best ones.		 Check back for a new tip every week on how to promote your business over the internet.
A website visitor measures a company's professionalism in the first 15 seconds. Big fancy graphics are pretty, but can be slow. A professional balance between text and graphics is imperative.

What I'm Working On

The Alberta Association of Recreation Facility Personnel offers courses for those in the recreation industry, as well as posting job opportunities and hosting an annual conference.This website is becoming a labour of love, probably because I've worked with the folks from the Alberta Association of Recreation Facility Personnel on an almost daily basis since 2004. We have custom designed programs for AARFP through our servers, member-access only, and with chat rooms, discussion forums, and online registrations, it's actually an incredibly dynamic site, and becoming even more. Their website needed updating to keep up with the interactivity and while we've only been at it in earnest for about a week, it's coming along very quickly. If all goes well, the new website should be up by the end of August.
