The Town of Olds is currently involved in a Municipal Sustainability Pilot Project. The Aquatic Center is conveniently located on the Olds College campus. It features five lanes, waterslide, and hot tub. Visit with our Town Crier and Bell Ringer, Denis and Judy Patry, during Olds Fashioned Christmas. Olds is a vibrant and thriving place with exciting business opportunities, including Industrial Parks. Welcome to Olds, National Winner in the 2005 Communities in Bloom competition.

Alberta Children’s Services offers a wide range of services and programs for children and families. We support families and communities, enabling them to provide nurturing, safe environments for their children. Services available through the Olds and Didsbury District Offices include: Child Intervention Services, Adoption, Foster Care, Family Support for Children with Disabilities, and Protection of Children Involved in Prostitution.

The shelter serves the needs of battered women with or without children, sexual assault victims and emotionally abused women by offering counselling, temporary safe accommodation and referral to other services. Walk-in and phone-in counselling is available 24 hours a day. There are no fees associated with this service. Referrals to the treatment program for men who batter their partners are also accepted. Treatment groups for women and adolescents are also available through referrals.

The Centre for Employment offers career and employment services to all Albertans over the age of 16 in the Mountain View County area. Services are free of charge to all eligible participants. Resources include a staff of Employment Specialists and Assistants, a job board, internet and computer use, a resource library and workshops. Services to employers include free postings for jobs and help with staff recruitment. We also tailor services (on a fee-for-service basis) for human resource development and team building. Our mandate is to link employers with potential employees.

Children of the Universe offers Dayhome Programs, Pre-School Programs and Yoga-for-Kids. The Dayhome program is a network of approved family dayhomes in Olds, Sundre, Didsbury and areas. The Yoga program is offered in sessions throughout the year for children from birth to 18 years. Discover the many benefits of yoga! Family sessions are also available. Pre-school runs from September to mid-June and registrations are ongoing as long as space is available. We also offer workshops, training and a resource library.     We’re FREE and we’re FUN! Come and join in the fun of play! Children really do learn from play. Share with your children aged 0-6 years a variety of learning experiences, crafts, songs and games. The Centre offers drop-in play, structured family-based activities, and parent education opportunities, as well as the opportunity for parents to check and support the development of their children.     Are you expecting? The Olds Community Health Centre offers a set of two classes, five times a year that cover information from late pregnancy and the birth experience to caring for you and your newborn baby. Content includes: late pregnancy and the onset of labour, relaxation, progress of labour, coping strategies, comfort measures, labour support, complications and variations, medical options, caesarean birth, infant feeding, advantages and challenges of breastfeeding and getting started for success. Newborn behaviour and care, adapting to parenthood, car seats, and other safety concerns are also addressed.

    Mountain View Seniors Housing operates 23 homes for lower income families in the communities of Sundre, Olds, Didsbury, Carstairs and Crossfield. Rent is based on 30% of total income (line 150 of the Canada Revenue Agency Notice of Assessment). The tenant is responsible for electricity, cable TV and telephone. A security deposit is required. A refrigerator and stove are provided.
