Each FSW Worker provides referrals to agencies and/or one-on-one counselling with children and their families dealing with problems of behaviour, negative peer pressure, depression, etc. Preventative educational programming for groups of children and parents can also be provided. Program titles include: Social Skills, Children of Divorce, Peer Support (high school), Kids Helping Kids (elementary school), Anger Busters, Dealing with the Loss of a Loved One, Health Fairs and self-esteem groups. The Red Deer Chapter of the Learning Disabilities Association of Alberta is dedicated to assisting in the education and social development of individuals with learning disabilities and ADHD. We do this by offering programs and services that recognize, support and encourage the unique abilities of each person. This mission is accomplished in partnership with persons with learning disabilities, their families and the community. Programs include ongoing multidisciplinary reading, writing, math, study skills, test preparation, homework and school assignment help plus Irlen Syndrome screenings. Olds Career High School is one of the many schools operated by Chinook’s Edge School Division No. 73. At Olds Career High School, students work on courses individually and receive help from teachers as needed. Students use modules developed by Alberta Education for most courses, however, some courses are also available on-line. Teachers set deadlines for each module ranging from one to four weeks. Deadlines are dependent on the students’ goals and current schedule. In this setting, students learn time management and organizational skills. The Career High School is designated for grades 10, 11 and 12 students. Adult students age 20 and older are also welcome. Students at Olds Career High School are upgrading marks for College and University entrance or taking courses that do not fit into their timetables at the regular school. Others require flexible attendance schedules due to employment, parental responsibilities, health reasons, and serious sports commitments.

Olds College is dedicated to being the premier comprehensive applied agriculture, horticulture, land and environmental management learning and applied research community in Canada. The college works closely with industry and business to ensure that students encounter excellent learning opportunities and that graduates are prepared for leadership roles. With an emphasis on hands-on training, education is provided primarily in the areas of agriculture, horticulture, environment, land management, animal sciences applied business, fashion, mechanics and academic upgrading. The range of programs includes applied degrees, diplomas, certificates and apprenticeship certification. Approximately 1300 fulltime students attend each year at the college's Olds and Calgary campuses. To help students gain practical skills in these programs, the Olds campus offers a 495 acre working farm, greenhouses, a commercial composting research centre, horticultural plots, an arboretum, an indoor riding arena, equine centre and more. World-class applied research facilities are available to industry and business partners seeking to develop commercial products that serve local or international markets. The expertise and facilities of Olds College are also available through part-time and short courses. A wide range of learning opportunities is provided to the 5300 students who enroll in these courses every year. Partnership with the local community is very important to the college. Many facilities may be enjoyed by the public including the library, food services, gymnasium, fitness centre and botanic gardens. Olds College Conference Services caters to large and small functions throughout the year. Community interaction expands constantly. Components of the Community Learning Campus (CLC), a partnership with the Chinook's Edge School Division, continue to open steadily. The Bus Maintenance Facility, Bell e-Learning centre and satellite CLC engagement sites in rural Albertan towns are already fully operational. The Fine Arts and Multi-Media Centre opens in February, 2009, with the Core High School and Health and Wellness Facility slated to open in early 2010. The CLC is built on Olds College campus, with numerous opportunities to share facilities and resources.
