In the spring of 2010, I got a call from Mike Fix, owner of Gotcha Jeans & Sportswear in Uptowne Olds. He wanted a web presence of some sort, something where if a potential customer typed his name into Google, they would find him. He had been doing some online promotion already with a Facebook page, but felt it was time to enhance that with a full-fledged website. His clothing and accessories lines are very extensive, and making sure all collections were covered was a challenge, but also one easily taken care of by creating a list of suppliers with links to their websites, a great cost-saver for web maintenance. It was also important that we showcase the services he provides, particularly jean hemming, which is a rare talent in this day and age. We've since added twitter to the social media marketing and that just means that the more we get the word out about his business, the better. Mike also makes sure his customer base is always updated with the latest fashions. An attractive, basic website that definitely does what it needs to. Oh yeah, I bought the best winter coat there! ;-)
Don't run text the full width of the screen. This creates long lines of text that are difficult to read. Text also needs air around it, to breathe. That's why most printed documents have margins, and why newspapers and magazines have columns.

What I'm Working On
Sometimes a business loses their webmaster. This can be a strain on a business because they actually like their website design and aren't sure what to do; they still need someone to take it on. My latest project is to help Serenity in Granite with such a transition. This includes improving the hidden coding for search engines, updating some photos, and general cleanup of the website. I'm happy to help Janice through this process.
